I was extremely lucky to be chosen to pattern test the new Bouncy Flouncy Dress by Ramona Rose. The pattern is very well written with lots of helpful tips and pictures throughout. I made my dress a 2T because little Miss is in-between sizes at 20 months old. She's tall and skinny, but I wanted something she could wear for a while, and not outgrow in a month. So the dress is a little big on her, on purpose. But Ramona was super helpful when I emailed her and she suggested to add a pleat in the bodice to pull the top in and tack each tier of flounces up to shorten the dress a little. I am still unsure if I will adjust the length, she looks adorable in this maxi length, but it's not really a good option for a climber like her!
I used my hoarded Sew Stitchy fat quarters that I bought a while back from Fat Quarter Shop with yardage of Walk in the Woods for the bodice. I even broke in my new serger and did a rolled hem on all the flounces (serging goes extremely fast on those!). If you don't have access to a serger, Ramona suggests a rolled hem or hemmer foot for the flounces. You can also fold and press if you don't have either option.
The Bouncy Flouncy dress is available through Craftsy, and includes sizes 12m, 18m, 2T, 3T, 4 and 5.
Note: please excuse the bug net. Little Miss is at the age it is impossible to get her to stand still and I chose not to battle her over the net for these pictures! :)
