I had already planned on making a quilt using Oh Fransson's New Wave pattern and the idea of a gradient came from the gorgeous Nest fabric by Valori Wells. While Nest didn't make it on the front of the quilt, it did make up the majority of the back, making this quilt hard to pick which side is my favorite.
The quilting idea was a group effort. I had finished the top last November and it sat until early February as I waited for the time to work on it. I was at a loss as to how to quilt this one, so I bounced some ideas off of friends and finally came up with this design. I straight line quilted on the inside of the white sashing, just 1/4 inch in on each side. Then for waves I echo quilted the wave once about and inch in, so that the waves came to a point where they met. Then I quilted straight lines diagonally about an inch apart in the waves. The diagonals were perpendicular to one side of the wave, and each wave alternated directions in the diagonals. It was quilted with Guttermann thread, this was before I discovered Aurifil.
The binding was a print from Wrenly, another collection from Valori Wells.
This quilt is the first one for me and I am going to love using it... that is until Miss H is big enough to steal it from me.

It's beautiful! Reminds me of citrus, and considering I go by "citric sugar", to me that's a good thing. :-)
Wow, this looks great, Kelli! Somehow I missed the back at the sew-in, but that Valori Wells fabric is perfect--love it!
Lovely colors!

This jumped out at me from the BQF linky - I love it! The quilting is very special too. I have a New Wave in the works and I'm always interested to see how others have quilted theirs. Happy BQF!
This is just lovely. Thanks for sharing!
I love the colors in your quilt! The back is as pretty as the front.
Wow--this is gorgeous! Love it so much.
Also reminds me of 'Stitched in Color' value lesson about radiating the value from the inside out. Timely post.
I am totally feeling the solid love!! Beautiful choice of colours.
Beautiful quilt - love the colour gradient in the solids!

OMG, so gorgeous, Kelli. Good thing I don't live close to you or I'd be over saying "teach me, teach me how to quilt."

I love your quilt. What are your "best" categories? I want to nominate you, but I don't know where to put the nomination!
Lovely! I love the pink/orange combo - the orange takes some of the sweetness out of the pink. I also love the New Wave pattern - yours works so well!
This is stunning, I'm in love !
Your quilt is AMAZING! Everything about it blends together perfectly! I can see why you'd like the back just as much as the front! I have made a wave quilt, too, and it is for sale on Etsy.
